Oman Team for T20 World Cup 2024
Aqib Ilyas, the talented all-rounder who excels in batting, will lead Oman in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, starting on June 1st.
Ilyas was announced as the team’s new captain, while Zeeshan Maqsood stayed in the squad. Ilyas, who filled in for Sultan Ahmed during Oman’s T20 World Cup debut in 2016, led the team in the 2021 edition, which Oman co-hosted with the UAE.

ICC Announced: All teams are allowed to make changes to their squad until 25 May, after which any alteration will require approval from ICC’s Event Technical Committee.
Aqib feels truly honored to have been given the captaincy. He sees it as a big responsibility and wants to lead the team to many wins. They’re working hard for the World Cup, and the recent ACC Premier Cup has been really helpful in getting them ready.
Many players from the 2021 T20 World Cup squad are back for the 2024 ACC Premier Cup final. Bilal Khan, known for his left-arm yorkers, will lead the bowling again, with support from Kaleemullah, Fayyaz Butt, and Shakeel Ahmad. Shakeel, a newcomer, joins spinners Aqib and Zeeshan.
Kashyap Prajapati and Naseem Khushi are likely to bat before Aqib and Zeeshan at No.3 and No.4. Pratik Athavale and Ayaan Khan will probably bat later.
Jatinder Singh and Samay Shrivastav aren’t in the squad.
Oman starts their T20 World Cup on June 2nd against the Eagles in Barbados. They’re in Group B with Australia, England, Namibia, and Scotland.
